Issued: 10th Jul 1950. Perf: 13x12½. Watermark Wz 1 and available on sheets (10x10). Designed by Kreische and issued to commemorate 250 years of the German Academy of Sciences, Berlin. The stamps feature famous scientists.

This stamp features Hermann Ludwig Ferdinand von Helmholtz (31st Aug 1821 to 8th Sep 1894), a German physician and physicist who made significant contributions in several scientific fields. The largest German association of research institutions, the Helmholtz Association, is named after him.
